This Gary Player designed course is a world class layout set in spectacular surroundings and always in excellent condition. The Montagu has been ranked as the best course in South Africa, and a round here is a true test of golfing ability.
The Montagu is a modern course with a mature parkland feel, considered to be one of the best conditioned golf courses in South Africa. It is well designed, picturesque, and presents an enjoyable challenge to all levels of golfers. It has recently undergone major renovations with several holes being redesigned and has two completely new holes - the 1st and the 9th.
The signature hole of the course is the par-three 17th, where a mid- to long-iron has to be struck over a wide expanse of water to a green that is often likened to that of the par-three 12th at the Augusta National.
As with The Oteniqua and The Links courses, play is restricted to members, their guests and resort guests, so there is ample time and space to savour the Fancourt golfing experience. It is, however, always a good idea to book in advance to ensure that you get your desired tee time.
