A challenging course that runs across a valley, Stockwood Vale Golf Club boasts 150 acres of golfing excellence, set within breathtaking countryside on the edge of Bristol. Stockwood Vale has been built to USGA specification and great attention has been paid to drainage so that the course is playable in all but the most extreme weather conditions.
The 18 hole, 6,055 yard, Par 71 course sweeps the golfer through the peace and tranquility of Stockwood Vale towards the delightful and historic village of Queen Charlton.
The course is relatively short but still provides a good challeng, with golfers facing a variety of lies, slope angles and unique holes. The holes that run up and down the valley require some good club selection to adjust for the elevations.
Many of the holes require some good strategy to play well, and often blasting the driver of the tee is not the best solution. The range of tee positioning can alter a number of holes quite dramatically, catering for all standards of golfers, and also making the course play differently from week to week.
The fairways cross streams and stunning natural features, and on many holes wayward shots are exaggerated by catching the steep slopes. No two holes are similar, with most running in a number of different directions, which provides a threat from the ever changing winds.
The views towards Keynsham and Bath are stunning, with plenty of wildlife roaming the course including dear and pheasant. This is a challenging course that is a joy it is to play.
