The Championship course at Trevose Golf and Country Club was designed by renowned golf architect Harry Colt in 1924. At the time of designing Trevose Golf Club, Colt had already designed some of the worlds best golf courses such as Augusta National, Pine Valley, Sunningdale, Royal Portrush, Muirfield and Wentworth.
It is rumoured that the extreme beauty of the Cornish coastline and its topography enticed Colt to the area to design one of the finest golf courses in Cornwall, which was his only course in the South West.
As with all of Harry Colts designs the course is set out in two loops of 9 holes. The front 9 holes weave between the sand dunes and coastline, with the back 9 forming an inland links. Views of the Atlantic Ocean can be seen from every hole.
The difficulty of Trevose Golf Club, as with all links courses, lies in the wind, guaranteeing that the golf course plays differently almost every day. The wide undulating fairways are tightly cut with penal rough in places, and many strategically placed bunkers guard fast putting surfaces. The course has four different sets of tees enabling golfers of all standards to enjoy their round.
A golfer is required to use almost every club their bag to score well at Trevose Golf Club, and if the wind gets up, you will be in for a truly memorable experience.
