Few golf clubs in the UK can boast of having 3 courses, but The Gleneagles Resort not only has 3 courses, but they are all ranked in the Top 100 Golf Courses in the United Kingdom. The King's and Queens Courses accompany the PGA Centenary Course.
The PGA Centenary Course is the latest addition to the Gleneagles Resort, created by Jack Nicklaus in 1993. It is a modern classic winding over stunning moorland, with an American styled layout. The course will play host to the 2014 Ryder Cup.
Even for an acclaimed golf architect like Jack Nicklaus, The PGA Centenary Course was a challenge to construct. Nicklaus described the course as "The finest parcel of land in the world I have ever been given to work with".
It had to provide a unique challenge, designed to test the greatest players in the world. The course displays the usual Nicklaus features, with large undulating putting surfaces, bold bunkering and many risk and reward style holes.
With 5 different tees on each hole the PGA Centenary Course isn't just for the professionals. Ranging from a challenging 6,558 yards from the white markers down to 5,072 from the red, it provides a suitable challenge for all standards of golfer.
A feature of the PGA Centenary Course is the feast of views over the spectacular countryside in which Gleneagles is set. This stadium style course should provide the perfect setting for the 2014 Ryder Cup, with plenty of room for spectators.
