The Queens Course is the shortest of the 3 championship courses at Gleneagles, but is definitley not inferior. What it lacks in distance it makes up with plenty of character and some tough holes that require some good shotmaking to get round. Built in 1917 by James Braid, the Queens Course was the first at Gleneagles.
The natural beauty of the 5,965 yard Queen's Course has inspired many golfers over the years. Threading through high ridges on the north and west sides of the estate, the Queen's offers lovely woodland settings with lochans and ditches, as well as many moorland characteristics. The landscape of the Queens Course is much softer than the King's and PGA Centenary Course.
The Queen's Course has played host to some of the world's golfing greats throughout it's long history. The beautiful settings and the challenge of the course have attracted such top golfers as Johnny Miller, Greg Norman, Seve Ballesteros, Tom Watson, and Lee Trevino.
The challenge of the first nine can be deceptive, at 3,192 yards, with even some of the best players finding it tough to make par into strong southwesterly breezes.
The springy moorland fairways make the ball sit up, inviting a clean strike for your approach to greens that are true and encourage aggressive putting.
