In the heart of the desert, situated 20 kilometers from the city centre of Dubai, The Emirates Golf Club sports two championship golf courses, the Majlis and the Wadi, extensive recreational facilities and fine dining. With the United Arab Emirates fast becoming the preferred destination for the ultimate golf holiday, the Emirates Golf Club boasts two of the best golf courses in the region.
Where day time temperatures can range from 30-49°C, the course requires nearly 4.5 million litres of water a day, which is pumped onto the course through more than 500 sprinkler heads.
Born out of a 2006 redesign by Nick Faldo of its predecessor, "The Wadi", which delighted players from all over the world for a decade, "The Wadi by Faldo" is a real test of golf for the greatest players and promises an enjoyably challenging round for the handicap golfer. At nearly 7,300 Yards, not only does the course require some strong hitting, but it requires some good strategical play to score well.
The predominant theme of "The Wadi by Faldo" is its dramatic bunkering. High flashes of sand, visible all the way from the tee to the green, act as a guide for the tee shots. With steep faces and long noses on entry, each bunker has been designed, built and strategically positioned to reward good play and penalize wayward shots.
The clubhouse at the Emirates Golf Club, styled to represent a cluster of Bedouin tents, is well known as one of Dubai's most amazing landmarks and is one of the most prominent features on the course, positioned between the 8th and 9th holes. It boasts a restaurant, several bars and a pool area.
